Hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday, we
are looking forward to the New Year! Over the past couple of years we
have been working on a foundation and now we feel we are ready to start
building upon it. We have appreciated your help and
will continue to need your support as we move forward! As we work on
growing we would like to invite you and your friends to share in the
journey. As most of you know, we have several marketplaces where we
sell a variety of items. We love and have always specialized in books,
but have varied interests. We are always on the lookout for different
types of treasures and appreciate the leads. As we continue to build
our colorful Vagabond House we would like to share more in the
exploration along with the gems that we find. Follow us on TheVintageVagabonds.com, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and don't forget to tell your friends to join the adventure!

So, we find ourselves in a state of awe once
again. After finding a wonderful home for the first edition Great
Gatsby, we also found it made us a little sad to see it go. #GreatGatsby However, shortly after sending our precious jewel on its
way, we were blessed to run across another piece of American literature
history. Although not a first edition, finding this new treasure gave
us a similar delight with a new found perspective. It is our job to
discover and then experience the real joy of sharing. We know that our
clients experience a similar excitement when receiving their new
additions to their collections. We have the temporary pleasure of
being able to hold and work with true gems. Despite having to let them
go, the real pleasure in knowing that they will be cared for and enjoyed
for years to come. So, what have we got in store today? A beautiful
29th printing of #Howl the famously controversial work by Allen Ginsberg. Signed and dated by Ginsberg on title page! #AllenGinsberg
Being able to hold a copy that the author has held and personalized
brings back that feeling of excitement and wonder of discovery. We are
very happy to make this item available and looking forward to sharing
our next unique find. #VintageVagabonds

Great Gatsby!
One
of the great joys in our line of work is being close to lots of
different types of treasures and interesting items. It is sad to say
sometimes we see so many cool items it takes something very special
to truly wow us (#Coolfind). Being long time lovers of books and
seeing so many books on a regular basis this definitely rings true in
the book arena. In our book inventory at this time we are very proud
of a couple of truly fantastic gems. We currently have available an
inscribed Harry S. Truman biography, several first editions/signed
Tom Wolfe novels, a signed Allen Ginsberg, some very neat collectible
kids books and too many other signed/first editions to list here.
Our most recent find was able to take my breath away. We have dug up
a true piece of American literature history and now making it
available for purchase. When it was first spotted my heart raced. I
thought to myself “this will be a later printing”, no way will it
be a first edition and a first printing. I gently picked it up and
opened the front boards tenderly searching for the title page and
copyright page. Upon arriving to my destination I noticed the date
and then the Scribner seal. What we had found was a first edition and
first printing of Fitzgerald's “The Great Gatsby”
(#GreatGatsby). After getting it back to the office and researching
it a little further making sure all the first edition points were
present, it was time to be wowed. I was holding a first edition
(#1sted) of the third novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It felt amazing!
The work originally sold only around 20,000 copies and was
originally considered to be a huge commercial flop. It was not
until after his death in the 1940's that the worked picked up steam
becoming a true American classic. Our copy like most other found is
missing the iconic and highly sought after dust jacket. Others are
selling theirs with facsimile jackets, but we have decided to sell it
as it was found. It has so much character and charm just the way it
is we do not want to spoil it. Enjoy!

O. Henry
When one loves one's Art no service seems too hard.
-O. Henry
On this day in 1910 North Carolina writer O.Henry passed away in NYC. Born William Sydney Porter in Greensboro in 1862 he was best known by his pen name. Literary historians believe this pen was chosen to honor a childhood pet. The legendary writer is famous for his clever "O. Henry Endings" and short stories. Located on HWY 150, just around the block from our booth @ Golden Antiques and Treasures, is the Saunders Inn. This old structure is where O. Henry's grandfather, while traveling, stopped for a stay. He was asked by Saunders to stay permanently to help teach the local children. He later moved into Greensboro to raise his own family. #OHenry #VintageVagabonds #SummerfieldNC

Update on our retail consolidation
We have finished consolidating our booth space at Golden Antiques and Treasures. Check us out in booth #53! We are very excited to switch it up a bit and look forward to sharing a little more of our freed up time and creativity with you. We will be rotating stock quicker through that booth, so make sure you visit us often to catch all the goodies. As far as the books in that booth go, we had to drop some categories during the consolidation and we are sorry. Those category titles will be added to our New Arrivals section and be rotated out much quicker. We have added a Reduced section on the other side of New Arrivals where you can find really great bargains. We will be having a June Book Sale at Golden Antiques and Treasures June 12th through the 15th. Hardcovers will be a deal @ $2.00 and Softcovers will be a steal @ $1.00. We look forward to seeing you there! #BookSale #VintageVagabonds
